Well, there go any rumors about JvR. Either that, or Paul Holmgren is beginning to get crafty with smokescreens. 

The Philadelphia Flyers issued a statement today regarding forward James van Riemsdyk.

"James was hit in the head in each of our last two games. He reported yesterday, not feeling like himself. He will be out indefinitely with a concussion," Holmgren said in his statement.

I wrote a speculation article a few days ago discussing the possibility that the Philadelphia Flyers could be in trade talks with the Toronto Maple Leafs regarding highly-touted defenseman Luke Schenn. It seems that all that speculation had some legs after all.

The other day, the Philadelphia Flyers announced that Jaromir Jagr would once again be out of the lineup for a week to 10 days with another groin injury. Jagr is said to have sustained the injury during the Winter Classic, when it was at first thought to be a calf injury.

Funny thing is Jagr doesn't think it'll be that long before he'll be back.

With the NHL trade deadline less than two months away, the rumors are really beginning to heat up.

Philadelphia has had its fair share of interesting athletes throughout the years. Along with interesting characters, Philly sports figures have also been known for their infamous quotes.

Whether it was directly after a loss, or a miraculous fourth down reception or at a World Series parade, some Philly sports stars really knew how to blow a gasket or pump up a crowd.

No matter if it's the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, 76ers or Big 5 basketball, these quotes will definitely bring back some memories.

The 2012 NHL Bridgestone Winter Classic is right around the corner, and the Alumni Game is finally here.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm certainly just as excited about the Alumni Game as I am about the Classic itself. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see all of Philadelphia and New York's greats get together one last time for a historic event.

Well, maybe I spoke too soon when I said things couldn't get much worse for the Flyers. 

During the first period in Saturday's beatdown that the Bruins handed to the Flyers, rookie Sean Couturier was hit by a puck in what appeared to be his left ear. Although he wears a shield on his helmet, Sean was on the ice for several minutes before being escorted off the ice.

With word coming out Friday afternoon that the Philadelphia Flyers will be without Chris Pronger's services for some time, I begin to wonder what exactly the Flyers will do. Will they make a trade? Will they ride the season out with guys like Kevin Marshall or Marc Andre Bourdon?

If I were a betting man, I'd say that Philadelphia has just took a huge leap into the trade market. 

Just when things seemed to finally be going the Flyers' way, they got some bad news.

Friday afternoon, Philadelphia Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren issued a statement regarding captain Chris Pronger's injury status, and it wasn't good:

As it currently stands, the Philadelphia Flyers seem to be pulling out of their mini slump and shaping into the team that most Philly fans expected. Claude Giroux is absolutely dominant right now, and he's not showing any signs of slowing down.
