Philadelphia Flyers: Sean Couturier Is the Latest Victim of a Head Injury

Well, maybe I spoke too soon when I said things couldn't get much worse for the Flyers.
During the first period in Saturday's beatdown that the Bruins handed to the Flyers, rookie Sean Couturier was hit by a puck in what appeared to be his left ear. Although he wears a shield on his helmet, Sean was on the ice for several minutes before being escorted off the ice.
Before the second period started, general manager Paul Holmgren addressed the media stating that he would not return to the game. When asked more about the injury, Holmgren told NHL.com it was "a head injury" and wouldn't comment further.
The Flyers are quickly being exposed, and they're showing how much they miss the services of Claude Giroux and Chris Pronger. The Flyers are also without the services of rookie Brayden Schenn due to a concussion, although reports seem to indicate that Schenn is doing better. Now, they'll have to be without Sean Couturier, who was filling in for Giroux on the top line.
It sure doesn't bode well that Couturier was unable to come back to the game, although this could also be just another precautionary move by the Flyers. Philly fans will be once again holding their breath until Holmgren updates the media on his status.
Even with Couturier in the lineup, the Flyers are beginning to show signs that they need some extra help. If they're doing this bad against a team like the Bruins now, the playoffs will be an absolute disaster. The Flyers know this, and if they don't, I hope they realize it soon.
I'm sure an update will be coming from the Flyers fairly soon, although they may go through the whole process again with Sean like they did with Claude, so we'll see.
Boy, things aren't so sunny in Philadelphia anymore, are they?
