Detroit Red Wings Injury Report: Henrik Zetterberg Is Day-to-Day with Leg Injury
Posted 04/07/2011 - 14:13 by HockeyPolls
Yesterday, the Red Wings played their third-to-last game of the season, second-to-last on the road.
The playoffs start April 13 and the Wings have clinched both a playoff spot and the Central Division title.
Their 20th straight and 14th of the last 19th, respectively.
But last night's 3-0 loss was costly.
The loss really meant nothing on the standings except positioning between them and the San Jose Sharks for second in the conference, but what happened in the game was a bigger loss.
Henrik Zetterberg only played 6.5 minutes before he left the game with a lower body injury.
Henrik Zetterberg limped off just past midway through the first period, shortly after getting hit by defenseman Bryan Allen.
Zetterberg went on to play one more shift after the collision, but limped off gingerly right after.
The sight of Zetterberg limping off the ice drew a Hockeytown-wide sigh as the Red Wings fans across the world held their collective breath.
Before the game, the Wings were finally 100 percent healthy.
But of course, the injury bug bit once again.

Zetterberg underwent an MRI this morning and Mike Babcock offered these words on the Zetterberg update:
“I expect him to be day-to-day,” Babcock said when asked whether he expected Zetterberg to be ready for the playoff opener. “He’s not playing the next two games, and he’s day-to-day after that.”
"Day-to-day after that."
What does that really mean?
With the playoffs right around the corner, is Zetterberg going to miss Game 1? Will he even be back in the first round?
Well, all we can do is sit and wait.
Zetterberg commented on his status as well:
“I did an MRI, so it’s definitely—I will say it was better than I thought,” Zetterberg said.
For now, Zetterberg is out for the rest of the season.
Hopefully, it is not very serious and Zetterberg can be ready as soon as possible.
But also, the Red Wings don't want to rush Zetterberg back and want him 100 percent when he returns.
