Chicago Blackhawks Breaking News: Bryan Bickell Has Surgery, Out 2-3 Weeks

Blackhawks beat writer Tim Sassone of the Daily Herald has confirmed that Chicago forward Bryan Bickell will be out for the next 2-3 weeks following wrist surgery.

The news broke earlier when XM Radio reported the surgery during their Home Ice broadcast.

Bickell reportedly suffered a cut to his wrist earlier in the series against Vancouver and tried to play through it.  Although Bickell has accounted for two goals, two assists and a plus-minus rating of plus-four so far in the first round, the damage done to his wrist was too much.

Bickell underwent surgery on Monday to repair torn tendons in his wrist. He hopes to return to play if the Chicago Blackhawks can continue deeper into the NHL playoffs.

Look for Fernando Pisani to get more ice time, and look for an increased load taken by fellow left-winger Viktor Stalberg.  Game 6 hero Ben Smith will also need to continue his excellent play in the playoffs.

It is yet to be made known whether winger Tomas Kopecky will be able to return for Chicago in Game 7, let alone beyond the first round.
