When the New York Rangers decided there was no place in the roster for Sean Avery, he was placed on waivers for the second time of the season on Dec. 30, 2011. A day later, he would clear waivers and has remained in the Rangers' AHL affiliate, the Hartford Whale, ever since.

In 15 games played for the Rangers this season, he has only three goals and 15 shots on goal.

The clock is ticking.

At noon on Friday, December 30th, the New York Rangers once again placed Sean Avery on waivers (which seems to go against the CBA's Monday-Thursday statute...).

The New York Rangers waived troubled forward Sean Avery for the second time this season on Friday, according to Pro Hockey Talk, and it's likely no team will want to claim him off waivers and deal with his drama.

For all the debates about what Sean Avery can or can't do, what he does or doesn't provide to the New York Rangers, one thing that he has been successful at is providing energy when there is a lack of it.

The most recent example of this was when Avery was recalled from the Connecticut Whale in early November and the Rangers won the next five games to complete a seven-game winning streak. 

Sure, Sean Avery is one of the most well known players in the NHL, but not due to skill, hard work or hockey sense. He is well known for his bad decisions and antics both on and off the ice.

At 5 p.m. EST, Washington Capitals Vice President and General Manger George McPhee announced that the Capitals traded RW Eric Fehr to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for a fourth-round pick and 20 year-old prospect Danick Paquette.
