Posted 03/12/2011 - 10:42 by HockeyPolls

Known as one of hockey’s most informed sources, the Fan 590’s Bob McCowan recently claimed that members of Sidney Crosby’s family are encouraging him to retire due to concussion trauma that has kept the games best player off the ice for more than three months.

While McCowan failed to name names, it appears as if we can eliminate Crosby’s parents from the equation.

Darren Dreger of TSN announced via Twitter that Crosby’s agent Pat Brisson had responded to the rumors by stating:

Phiadelphia Flyers Trade Rumors: Is John Madden Philadelphia Bound?

As we move closer and closer to the February 28 trade deadline, one has to wonder: What ARE the Flyers going to do? When are they going to pull the trigger on a trade?

For whatever reason, there are many out there who think Jarome Iginla will still somehow be wearing Orange and Black, but it just doesn't make sense.

The Flyers would have to give up an incredible amount for that sort of return, and players like JvR and Zherdev would almost certainly be gone.

The New Jersey Devils ended up taking a lesser offer from the Dallas Stars, in order to avoid trading their captain to their rival.

NHL Trade Rumors: 10 Wildest Philadelphia Flyers Trades

The Philadelphia Flyers are in the market to make a move before the deadline.

What they are aiming for is up in the air but, it seems like a veteran winger who is riding an expiring contract would be what the team would want.

The Flyers already have a lot of depth at forward and defense and the goaltending has been solid.  If the Flyers do make a move, it better not affect the nucleus of this team.

Whatever the Flyers do at the deadline, I am ready for another long playoff run.
