NHL Free Agents 2011: Each Team's Least Useful Player

Each team has at least one worthless player who is dragging them down.

NHL: Immediate Reactions To The Buffalo Sabres' Opening Weekend

The Buffalo Sabres’ season opener was a very positive beginning for the start of the Sabres’ 40th anniversary season. The team picked up from last year’s 5-2 win against Ottawa to defeat the Senators on the road 2-1, with Derek Roy scoring both of the goals and Ryan Miller playing strong in net.

Evgeni Nabokov has signed a four-year contract that will pay him $6 mil per season with St. Petersburg of the KHL.

NHL Free Agency: Rob Niedermayer a Solid Pickup for Buffalo Sabres

Darcy Regier may have surprised many fans with this signing. Rob Niedermayer has agreed to a one year, one million dollar contract with the Buffalo Sabres.

Niedermayer has been in the league for 16 seasons, and is playing for Buffalo in this next one.

Although he has a career plus/minus of minus-115, Niedermayer brings in more grit and experience to the team. He has 450 points in 1,082 career games.

Niedermayer certainly has postseason experience and won the Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks during the 2006-2007 season.

Salim Valji, Anaheim Ducks General Manager

Considering how close the Anaheim Ducks were to dealing Chris Pronger at the deadline, a second round playoff exit should be considered a success.

If anything, the 2009 playoffs showed the Ducks management just how good of a goaltender they have in Jonas Hiller. That being said, there certainly are a few holes they will have to fill by training camp.

It seems that every team is looking for a top six forward, and that certainly is the Ducks case as Teemu Selanne is once again considering retirement.
