Most of you have probably heard or perhaps even thought of this statement before. It’s now getting to the point where the Flyers’ front office really needs to take a look at the line-stability going into the playoffs.

The Flyers added one Nikolai Zherdev to their roster this offseason. This signing, much like last summer’s signing of Ray Emery, has been a hot-button topic.

Zherdev spent last year in the KHL after the New York Rangers walked away when an arbitrator ruled that Zherdev should receive $3.9 million for the 2010 season. Prior to the arbitrator’s decision, the Rangers had offered Zherdev $3.25 million. Zherdev was seeking $4.5 million.

Philadelphia Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren's 2010 offseason plans seem to be counterproductive after the inspiring playoff run that almost went into a seventh game in the Stanley Cup finals.  If not for the unfortunate "phantom goal" that slipped past Michael Leighton, the Flyers might have had enough momentum to have beaten the Chicago Blackhawks in a deciding final game.

Zherdev, who was drafted fourth overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, left the NHL in favor of the KHL last season when the New York Rangers refused to pay him after he was awarded a hefty salary via arbitration.
