NHL Trade Rumors

Reports indicate that Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Pavel Kubina has been traded to the Philadelphia Flyers for second and fourth round draft picks.

Rick Nash will be traded. That is almost as certain as Columbus not making the playoffs this year.

With a little over a week away until the NHL trade deadline, teams are running to the finish line and trying to get a deal moving with the Columbus Blue Jackets for Rick Nash.

With many players who will either be restricted or unrestricted free agents at the conclusion of the 2011-12 NHL season, many teams are contemplating trades.  Who should (and will) they trade? How can they avoid letting their players walk for nothing in return at the end of the season?  For the Avalanche, the spotlight falls on forward David Jones.

The Colorado Avalanche sit on the very edge of the playoff picture right now and will be one of the teams pushing to make it to the postseason until the very end of the year.

Teams in this position are usually considered buyers at the trade deadline, and the Avalanche do have a specific area of need to address.

The Avalanche need to find a top six scoring forward, preferably a winger, to help scoring depth, and there are a couple of high-profile names out there who would be available.

For the Philadelphia Flyers, Saturday was anything but a day full of surprises.

Two glaring weaknesses in Philadelphia’s game are goaltending and performance during weekend matinee games. And Saturday’s 6-4 loss to the Penguins was a perfect display of both of these problems.

The NHL is a whirlwind of Rick Nash rumors as the Trade Deadline approaches. 

Almost every NHL team has been mentioned as flirting with Columbus for Rick Nash, who is a dynamic and physical scorer. Up until this recent let down of a season, it was assumed that Columbus would be Nash's future for quite some time.

Now it looks like his career with the Blue Jackets may be ending.

With the first couple of significant defensive trade pieces moving earlier this week in Hal Gill and Nicklas Grossman, we could see a domino effect occur over the next few days. 

The Detroit Red Wings have reportedly submitted an offer for Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Pavel Kubina.

On Thursday, February 16th's edition of Insider Trading on TSN, Darren Dreger reported that there was an offer on the table for centreman Mikhail Grabovski of the Toronto Maple Leafs consisting of a second-round pick and a prospect.

The NHL's Feb. 27 trade deadline is fast approaching, so trade rumors are heating up. With so many teams still in the playoff hunt, it appears as though it could be a seller's market since many squads will be looking to add players in order to improve their playoff positioning.
