New York Islanders: Is Brooklyn the Right Place for This Team?

Talk of a possible Islanders move has recently sprung up again, with the Barclay's Center as a landing ground. Owners of the Barclay's Center have been doing their best to attract the attention of the Islanders ownership in the hopes of making a permanent move.

But realistically, is Brooklyn the best option for this team?

The New York Islanders Have Finally Come Back to the NHL

Browsing the Islanders' stat sheet this season will not induce any dumbfounded looks of disbelief on how a season can go by, and no player on the entire team has reached a certain seemingly easy-to-reach milestone.

The past three seasons, the Islanders' player stats were if not embarrassing, they were shameful.

Over the past three years, only three players  have scored 50-points or more, and none more than 56.

Matt Moulson the Real Deal: Tallies 30 Goals in Second Straight Season

When Matt Moulson was picked up by the New York Islanders from the Los Angeles Kings before last season, did you think anyone knew the guy would turn into their most prolific goal scorer?

Did you think he would score 30 goals not one year, but two years?

New York Islanders: The Optimism Is Real for a Change

There are 17 games left in the regular season for the Islanders

Are the playoffs impossible? No.

Probable? No.

Couple that with the fact that there are five teams to leap frog over it is safe to say that the Islanders will look to play spoiler and win as many games as possible over this last stretch of the season.

The Islanders are a changed team this season. Anyone who has watched them extensively this year can see that.

New York Islanders Really Beat Pittsburgh Penguins 9-3? Someone Please Pinch Me

What a Friday night it was in Islander Country. Isles fans are still chanting Michael Haley's name in their heads, reliving Michael Grabner's goals and Tavares' goal, and well, the other six goals the Islanders scored.

Not to mention, the Isles and Pens racked up over 300 penalty minutes in this game, and you can be sure that there will be plenty of suspensions and/or fines levied on members of both teams. I'm sure NHL Disciplinarian Colin Campbell is having a field day.

New York Islanders Ink Matt Moulson for Three Years

Posted 01/27/2011 - 21:05 by HockeyPolls

The New York Islanders announced today that they have re-signed forward Matt Moulson to a three-year, $9.4M deal that will keep him on the island through the 2013-14 season.

Rumors had been circulating that if Moulson, who scored 30 goals for the lowly Islanders last season, was not re-signed before the trade deadline, he would have been dealt.

NHL Trade Rumors: Top 10 Forward Options for the Philadelphia Flyers

The way the Flyers are rolling, it does not appear that they need to add a forward. However, rumors persist that GM Paul Holmgren is looking to do just that.

Perhaps he is ready to give up on Nikolay Zherdev, move Andreas Nodl to the fourth line for the playoffs, or trade James van Riemsdyk to make big deal. In any case, here is a list of forwards the Flyers could be pursuing with name, age, and 2010-11 salary cap number listed.

NHL Trade Rumors: 10 Wildest Philadelphia Flyers Trades

The Philadelphia Flyers are in the market to make a move before the deadline.

What they are aiming for is up in the air but, it seems like a veteran winger who is riding an expiring contract would be what the team would want.

The Flyers already have a lot of depth at forward and defense and the goaltending has been solid.  If the Flyers do make a move, it better not affect the nucleus of this team.

Whatever the Flyers do at the deadline, I am ready for another long playoff run.

Enjoy!

New York Islanders: Transaction Evaluations and Reactions

It's been one week since the end of 2010 and the Islanders continue to shape their roster for this season and next.

The Islanders traded defenseman and leading point producer James Wisniewski to the Montreal Canadiens for a couple of draft picks.

Snow, striking while the iron was hot, also traded Goaltender Dwayne Roloson to the Tampa Bay Lightning for the 6'4" 230 pound defensive prospect, Ty Wishart.
