Did Ottawa Senators' defenseman Matt Carkner flick blood at the New York Rangers bench during last night's game?

Players on the Rangers bench allege that Carkner did just that as he skated off the ice after his first-period fight with Derek Boogaard.

NHL 2010: Colton Orr, George Parros and Deryk Engelland Are All Top 15 Fighters!

It is early in the 2010-2011, but it is time to rank the NHL’s Top 15 Heavyweight fighters so far.

To make this list a player must be a regular to the dance.  I believe a true fighter in hockey isn’t worried about his win/loss record but rather the value he has to his team.  That being said, the best in the game win more than their share.

In years past, George Laraque or Andrew Peters would be the regular contenders.  This year we have a few new faces and a number of the usual suspects.

NHL Fighting: Senseless Fighting Needs To Be Addressed

It’s just a few games into the 2010-11 season and already we are seeing a lot of senseless fights taking place—fights that the NHL would be wise to punish more severely, fights that prove nothing.

Thursday night, the Edmonton Oilers come out flying in their home opener, clobbering the Calgary Flames by a final score of 4-0.

For the Oilers, it was a great start to the season, for the Flames, an embarrassing effort.

2010 NHL Playoffs: Overtime Periods Abound, Rivalling 1993

Where there's extra time, there's a good time to be had.

So far this post-season, the original 16 combatants of the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs have waged war into an extra period 12 times through 42 games.

Twelve times may seem staggering, but it's not the record. But it is close.

The record for the most overtime games in Round One of the playoffs came back in 1992-93, when teams played overtime 14 times through 44 games.
