Active NHL Players Who Have Never Won A Stanley Cup

The Stanley Cup is the most treasured trophy in the sports world.  Many players can play their entire career without raising the Cup.

This is a list of active NHL players with at least 1,000 games played who have never hoisted the Cup.  Time may be running out for these players.

No active player is a real threat to break Phil Housley's record of 1,495 games played without a Cup.

However, there is a chance that all mentioned could gain ground on him this year as they search for the elusive prize.

HRM Vol. 4: Donald Brashear Back to Capitals, Mike Modano Draws Wild Interest

The latest information to hit my desk!

The New York Rangers waived veteran enforcer Donald Brashear today, and there are some rumblings coming from a source at the Capitals that suggest the team is interested in bringing the enforcer back.

He has only one year remaining on his contract, and the Capitals lacked a fighting presence all of last season. There is no other player in the Capitals' system that could bring what Brashear does. Don’t kid yourselves with Brandon Sugden.

New York Rangers and Phoenix Coyotes: A Give-and-Take Relationship

Posted 06/28/2010 - 14:38 by HockeyPolls

This may seem like an odd and random topic to start writing about, but given the fact that the New York Rangers and Phoenix Coyotes have made several trades with each other since the lockout, I thought it's appropriate since there are sure to be transactions coming up this week that may or may not involve the two parties dealing with each other.

One of these trades even predates Glen Sather’s former assistant, and current buddy, Don Maloney taking over as their GM.

Getting Donald Brashear's $1.4 Million Contract Off the Books

As if Ranger fans needed another reason to hate Donald Brashear, Glen Sather and the Rangers gave them another one last season when they signed Brashear to a two-year $2.8 million contract.

Not even midway through the season last year the Rangers realized this was a mistake and demoted him to the Hartford Wolf Pack. Unfortunately his contract still counts against the cap as at 38-years-old Brashear is over 35 so his contract still hits the cap even in the AHL.

New York Rangers Need To Show Nasty Edge vs. Philadelphia Flyers

I know I said I was going to take a week-long hiatus from writing hockey, but just like battered-wife syndrome, I keep coming back for more. The occasion is up to par though; can’t beat a Rangers/Flyers afternoon game with so much on the line. The Rangers need this game much more than the Flyers, because they sit three points out of the eighth spot in ninth, while the Flyers are in sixth with a seven point edge on the Rangers.

The Dirtiest Hits in NHL History

Hockey has always been an incredibly violent game. A bunch of guys flying around on ice with knives attached to their feet. Something bad is bound to happen.

This article lists eight of the most gruesome or heinous hits in the history of the NHL. At the end of this article, I'll show the worst two hockey injuries ever.

This article is in no particular order, and if you think I've left any off, leave me a comment.

But, hey, at least none of them are this guy:

New York Rangers Win Again: Who Are These Guys Redux?

The look on Tampa Bay Goalie Mike Smith's face said it all.  You couldn't see it, but you knew it was there.  Rangers' Bad Boy Sean Avery had just scored on him—a penalty shot, no less.

And there was a confused and flustered look from Smith afterwards.

It is akin to the look that Rangers fans have had all season long.

Washington Capitals Take a Bite Out of the Big Apple

Did the Washington Capitals Shaone Morrisonn bite New York Rangers forward Brandon Dubinsky? The incident is getting overshadowed by Blair Betts getting a broken Orbital Bone from the illegal elbow from Donald Brashear.

Brandon Dubinsky claims he was bitten by Shaone Morrisonn during Sunday's Game 6. Morrisonn denied the claim. Dubinsky says yes. Morrisonn says no.

Dubinsky and Morrison will face each other in Game Seven but Betts is out with the injury and Brashear is suspended for six games.

Donald Brashear: One of the NHL's Dirtiest Players

Many people, when contemplating the NHL's dirtiest players, think of the pesky Sean Avery or Chris Pronger.

Well, the first player that comes to my mind is Donald Brashear. He's known as an enforcer, it's his job to antagonize and stick up for his own teammates.

But sometimes, his hits are just unwarranted.

The most recent example came during Game Six of the 2009 NHL Playoffs first-round matchup between the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers.
