Maybe some home cooking was all the New Jersey Devils needed.

That plus a goalie switch, two shorthanded goals and three shootout scores.

Returning to the Prudential Center in Newark after a four-game road trip in which they went 1-3-0, the Devils rebounded from a 3-0 deficit to top the Ottawa Senators, 5-4, in a shootout Thursday night.

Posted 08/27/2011 - 02:38 by HockeyPolls

Remember when the Ottawa Senators were the class of the Northeast, let alone the class of the Eastern Conference? Probably not, due to the fact that the Senators are now set for a major rebuild.

Ottawa is entering the 2011-12 NHL campaign with very low expectations in competing for the Northeast Division, let alone competing for a playoff spot. The rebuild is on in Ottawa, and it is getting done the right way.

Carmelo Anthony Trade: 6 NHL Superstars Who Should Force a Move

On Monday night, Carmelo Anthony got his wish as the Denver Nuggets dealt their superstar forward to the New York Knicks in an epic, three-team trade.

Washington Capitals: 5 Deadline Deals That Need To Happen for Stanley Cup Push

This season has not been what most expected from the Washington Capitals.  After last year's disappointing playoff series loss against Montreal, hopes were still high for a Capitals team that did not have major roster turnover during the offseason.

With a week and half till the trade deadline the Capitals are wallowing in the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference a couple points behind Tampa for the Southeast Division lead.

Ottawa Senators Offense Already Red Hot With Milan Michalek Returning

Just as the team's offense begins to explode, another sniper is welcomed back to the fold.

Winger Milan Michalek will play tonight after missing the last four games with tendinitis in his left knee.  When he was last on the ice, the Senators were still struggling to climb out of the league basement, having won only four of their first 10 games and managing a measly 2.6 goals per game.

Derek Stepan and the Rest of October's Hat Tricks

Derek Stepan surprised pretty much everyone in his first NHL game. The latest rookie on Broadway scored a hat trick in his first NHL game becoming only the fourth person in NHL history to do so. Following Stepan, 10 other players have completed the three-goal feat in October. Here are all of last month's hat tricks.

Daniel Alfredsson: A Tribute to the Ottawa Senators Legend

Posted 10/22/2010 - 22:16 by HockeyPolls

In a sport rife with hyperbole, to call a moment special, a player iconic, or a number a legend is almost commonplace.

Daniel Alfredsson has created, or is, all of those things, except commonplace.

To tally his 1000th point, while scoring his 8th career hat trick, in a near "must-win" game, is just Alfie being Alfie.

Ottawa Senators: A Fragile and Frustrated Team Must Battle On

Six games into what many predict to be the Ottawa Senators' rebound season and already the fans are weary, the coach is frustrated and the team is looking fragile.

The Senators are now 1-4-1 and 27th in the league on the power play, 29th for goals against and 27th for taking penalties.

The finger-waving is strong and furious, drawing attention to the goaltending crisis, the sloppy defensive play in their own end and the always popular lack of secondary scoring.
