The Departed: How Cup-Winning Blackhawks Are Fairing With New Clubs

Just six months ago, on a rainy Philadelphia night, the Chicago Blackhawks hoisted Lord Stanley’s cup for the first time in 49 years. What a difference six months makes.

Six months ago, the city of Chicago threw their hockey heroes a massive party, as two million plus crammed their way onto Michigan Avenue to bask in the glory of their title. It was a majestic scene, as an entire city came together behind their beloved Blackhawks. After the parade, it appeared as if it might take the city six months to clean up the mess created that day on Michigan Avenue.

In the spirit of Halloween, it appears there is a former Blackhawk goaltender haunting his former team; The Man from France.

Cristobal Huet, on loan to Fribourg-Gotteron of the Swiss-A League, appears to have left a dubious imprint on the Chicago net. The biggest issue Huet had on the West side was his penchant for giving up the soft goal. Huet had some nights where the puck found his pads, and others where it eluded him.

NHL Rumours: Sheldon Souray to the Columbus Blue Jackets and More

Sheldon Souray will not be dealt to Columbus for the Mike Commodore straight up, the Oilers will have to throw in a pick, or possibly a prospect. This seems logical but since Commodore has more years left on his contract this would be a bad trade for Edmonton unless the draft pick is really low. However, I do not expect Columbus to accept a low draft pick so this deal will probably not be done.

Is Dale Tallon Repeating Past Mistakes by Possibly Signing Antti Niemi?

Oh Dale Tallon, haven’t you infuriated the hockey world enough?

This is the slightest bit of all Tallon’s tragedy, but he started up again this week.

ESPN NHL Rumors has declared that Tallon is interested in signing Antti Niemi.

The Florida Panthers have numerous goalie options within the organization so why bother with Niemi?

The Panthers do have approximately $8.3 million left in cap space, which I would not anticipate Tallon to leave unoccupied.
