NHL: New York Rangers Center Situation

Currently under contract the Rangers have seven players who played center for a substantial amount of time last season. These include: Brandon Dubinsky, Vinny Prospal, Erik Christensen, Chris Drury, Artem Anisimov, Brian Boyle, and Todd White. Out of these seven players only Dubsinky and Prospal were really used as wingers at any point during the season.

The Rangers Cap Issues Continue, As Rebuild Comes to an End!

On July 27, 2010 the New York Rangers filled their roster and their cap by signing left winger Alexander Frolov.

At present time the Rangers, are in the rears, meaning they are in the negative by $-796,667 with a cap pay roll of $60,196,667.

Who should wear the "C" for the New York Rangers?

All his intangibles aside, it is painfully obvious that Chris Drury is not getting the job done as the Rangers' captain.

When he isn't killing penalties, he is an absolute ghost on the ice.

His interviews with the media are emotionless and make it look like he is just going through the motions and "saying the right thing."

The team also has no unity or chemistry. This was seen during the Carcillo-Gaborik incident.

New York Rangers Looking for North American Approach to Building Future

After 21 years as a member of the Rangers European Scouting team, Director of player personnel for Europe, Christopher Rockstrom has been let go by the organization. The man who scouted star goalie Henrik Lundqvist is gone. Could this be signaling a trend in the organization against picking European players?

In this year's draft in Los Angeles, the Rangers selected one European player. With their sixth round pick, the Rangers selected Jesper Fasth, of Sweden.

New York Rangers Should Get Alexander Frolov for Added Scoring Punch

The New York Rangers were never serious contenders to sign any of the most coveted free agents this summer.  The albatross contracts of Chris Drury and Wade Redden have weighed heavily on the Rangers ability to compete in the free agent market.

NHL.com recently released an article "Best Free Agent Team" looking at the best free agent signings since the lockout by position.

So I thought it'd be fun to write an article on the worst free agent team. Enjoy!

20 Years Later: The Eric Lindros Draft Kills Quebec and Changes The NHL

Eric Lindros.

Perhaps no player infuriates Canadians and NHL fans alike than the London, ON native who once spurned not just an entire team but a province and culture as well.

June 22 marks the 19th anniversary of the dubious 1991 NHL draft that changed the face of the NHL forever. It ended so badly, that the team for which he never played ultimately got relocated to the United States.

Hence I write this article with a heavy heart in memorial.

Could Sather Ship Michal Rozsival Out West To Anaheim?

With the NHL draft, and the Free Agent period fast approaching, many teams are looking to shake things up. One such team is the New York Rangers. Although GM Glen Sather has previously stated that he doesn't forsee his team being major players in the free agent market, the man is no stranger to trades.

With a large portion of salary cap space tied up with defensemen Michal Rozsival and Wade Redden, the Rangers must look to move one of the large contracts with Dan Girardi and Marc Staal due for new, more expensive contracts.

What Lies Ahead for the New York Rangers (Satire…maybe)

Posted 05/14/2010 - 13:59 by HockeyPolls

The first time I wrote one of these prediction pieces was back on Metro Hockey, and I must say, I did not come close with any of them, except the one where I had Chris Higgins scoring his first goal in February. That was borderline. But here it is, what lies ahead for the New York Rangers!

June 15, 2010: The Rangers cash in on the future considerations they acquired from the Nashville Predators in the deal that sent Hugh Jessiman packing. In return, the Rangers get two packs of Pemmican beef jerky and a case of Gatorade.
